RED HULK

Since we're going to be seeing the RED HULK on screen soon in 'Captain America 4: Brave New World', I thought I'd do a quick post.

First off, if you've never read a Red Hulk comic and want to, I highly suggest skipping the Jeph Loeb issues and jump straight to the JEFF PARKER run; 'RED HULK: SCORCHED EARTH' tpb. While Loeb introduced the character, it was so silly it felt more like a parody... like something out of the old "WHAT THE--?!" series. Parker writes the character with a more serious tone and makes you believe Red Hulk is a manifestation of General Ross and not Woody Woodpecker. He explores the idea of what happens when Gen. Ross becomes what he's hated and hunted for decades - A HULK.

Plus, Parker's run starts with the kickass artwork of GABRIEL HARDMAN.

There's also the THUNDERBOLTS RED series (collected in a nice omnibus), which has Red Hulk on a government team alongside Elektra, Punisher, Deadpool and Agent Venom (Flash Thompson).

I haven't read this series,
so I can't speak for its quality.

Next, let's address the elephant in the roomL
  THE LACK OF MUSTACHE ON HARRISON FORD AS GENERAL ROSS! 

Not only has it been established for a few movies now, the mustache is a signature look for the character (and 2 previous actors). It's like making a Wolverine movie where he's bald. 

Yes, I saw the trailer where Ford says something akin to, "They told me I had to lose the mustache if I wanted to win the election." Bah. More like, "I'm Harrison Ford and I refuse to wear a mustache." Bah, I Say!

Moving on from the mustache to more important matters....

In the comic, when General Ross would Hulk-out, his mustache would disappear. This was in large part because for the first several issues, WHO Red Hulk was a mystery. I always thought Red Hulk would've looked cool with a BEARD; a) to differentiate the look from regular Hulk (uh, besides the RED skin), and b) I think he'd look sweet with a beard!
